I have been wondering how dificult it would be to ad an automatic address field to WeBid.
What I meen is most sites you go to know make you fill in your zip /postal code then it serches a database somewhere to get the address.
I was thinking this would help to stop a lot of people when joining from entering just any old address just to sell stuff but never pay the fees.
When dealing or running a website like an auction website It realy would be best to know that an address entered by a member when signing up is a genuine address and the system as mentioned above is the best way I can think in doing that.
Does anyone know how those websites that have this in place do it?

That's very a interesting idea. USPS.com has something like this, I'm wondering if they have an option where you can integrate this on a website.
Currently testing out SVN271 with MYSQL Version: 5.0.83 PHP Version: 5.2.12 Server Type: I have no idea.

yeah as I said most sites have this now gocompare is one I can think of from the top of my head.
I was just thinking about the vunerabilities in the curent way that people can register on the WeBid system and how it is at the moment is very open to abuse.
Websites such as eBay for example and Paypal have the above and they also require you to recive a letter through the post varifiying two codes before you can use their systems to either sell on ebay or use Paypal to send and recieve money.
Hence making the user varify twice that the postal address entered when registering is in fact real.
And I belive that Ebay also has a system to check your eneterd phone number by ringing you with a varification code that you then have to enter into the eBay website.
I know this can be anoying for the end user but for the admin this is security for himself and users of his site.Last edited by nay27uk; 03-02-2010 at 10:07 PM.

be good if one of us on the forums can find a free script to do this for addresses worldwide, would make an excelent security mod for WeBid
