    I am sure there are still others working with Webid as I am, and can solve this problem. The search box in the latest version refuses to work and nothing is returned if a search is carried out although there are many items in the category. I have tried the fixes that are on here for v2.1.1 but to no avail. Hopefully those few who still use this board may have had the same issue and managed to fix it. If so, help would be welcome.

    Hello walcott! How sure are you that others are still working here to help out? Will you put money on it? Webid is dead! Facebook crushed us and all of it's competition when it came out with it's market groups. The new version here had many bugs left in it and most of the good coders are gone. We fixed the Search and the topic is somewhere in the forum.

    Here, try this fix by babydunk that I just searched for.

    Good thing, I didn't put any money down. I would have lost. Your shot of getting me in here to help you was like 1 in 365. I hardly ever come back in here anymore. The only thing that brought me in here was to check on my updated security post when Google Chrome hit version 100 because I had to update my security fix for that which will be good until Chrome version 199.

    Hi David, You helped with a number of the issues I had in the past so good to hear from you. The fixes for v2.1.1 do not fix the 'search' for v2.1.2 - I tried them! I, like you, rarely come here but I still think there is a place for Webid. I fixed the bot registrations issue which plagued all versions of Webid since the start but have not been able to fix the 'search' in v2.1.2 the ultimate version and that is the only issue left to solve, it is annoying. Anyway I wish you all the best and thanks for the response.
    Edward Currie.

    @walcott can you give a better description of what's happening? It could be your server is blocking you and might be shooting out 403 errors. Check your visitor log in your server if you got one. Send us a snaphot here hiding any sensitive data like your url if you feel it will help us help you fix it. You should be seeing errors somewhere. Check your Webid Admin error log too. What's coming up a blank result page?

    Hi David, I think I have solved the issue after much trial and error. There is a search facility but It would appear that the search box will only search the title entry on listings, nothing else. It does not search for any word that might be in the item description, very restrictive. What I will do is change the 'Search auctions' presently in search box to 'Title keyword' . Without a lot of coding additions I think this is the best but not ideal option. Thanks for taking your time with this. Just to repeat I do think there is a place for the Webid code. I like the fact that that it works on the 'KISS' principle and does not need the all the bells and whistles of ebay or ebid and is good for specialist rather than general ecommerce. I think I now have a bug free installation but only time will tell. Have a look at the site: ecrop.uk I only have books listed at the moment but may transfer my main business of plants and seeds to it, as well as displaying items on my main website. All the best.

    Oh, I see what you are saying. It won't search the description. In my advance search, I removed all of my coding because I felt like bots were using that page for something on my site but, I see in your that there is a checkbox there to make it search the description. I believe this is the code where the checkbox is.

    https://github.com/renlok/WeBid/blob/master/adsearch.php#L47

    I tried to use it on your page but, it didn't seem to work.

    I hadn't been coding a long while and I'm a little rusty. I do see github has made some awesome improvements like how we can click on highlighted words in the coding and it will show us what it's connected to. That's pretty cool. I used to have to run a search in order to trace it.

    For your problems I think we would have to get it to search more than just the categories. As you mention it's restrictive. I was just pointing at the advance search because it might help solve how to do a search for the description text like it's supposed to in the advanced search.

    For a start, I added a couple of lines lines to the includes/browseitems.inc.php:

    Around line 68 I added DESCRIPTION in there. This is just to help get the retrieve the result to be displayed. We would have to somehow make the search.php page search more than just the Title names.

    PHP:
            $template->assign_block_vars('items', array(

    'ID' => $row['id'],

    'IMAGE' => $row['pict_url'],

    'TITLE' => htmlspecialchars($row['title']),

    'SUBTITLE' => htmlspecialchars($row['subtitle']),

    'DESCRIPTION' => htmlspecialchars($row['description']),

    'BUY_NOW' => ($difference->invert == 1) ? '' $row['buy_now'],

    'BID' => $row['current_bid'],

    'BIDFORM' => $system->print_money($row['current_bid']),

    'CLOSES' => ($difference->format('%d') < 20) ? $dt->formatTimeLeft($difference) : $dt->printDateTz($row['ends']),

    'NUMBIDS' => sprintf($MSG['950'], $row['num_bids']),

    'B_BOLD' => ($row['bold']),

    'B_HIGHLIGHTED' => ($row['highlighted'])
            ));

    $k++;
        }
    That might get screwed up though because there is a different definition for DESCRIPTION in the header.php page here:

    https://github.com/renlok/WeBid/blob/fe500f64b65294842f0c25ce1fd1210dd649dd6e/header.php#L42

    Maybe in the includes/browseitems.inc.php, instead of using:
    PHP:
    'DESCRIPTION' => htmlspecialchars($row['description']),
    We use something like:
    PHP:
    'DESCR' => htmlspecialchars($row['description']),
    All of what I mentioned is just to get it to display results. We still have to get the search to search more than just the item titles. This could take a lot of work. @pani100 would be the best one to get this to work. I will tinker around with it some when I feel I got some free time. Right now, I'm a little busy with other things. I thought I would share my ideas with you hoping it might help you and other people to help solve the issue.
