You mean "You must bid more then"

    Anyhow
I don't think that was the original intent of that button but none the less
that would be a temporary fix, that would also take rewording in multiple
instances plus I don;t know where else those lines are used either. I'm not
that familiar with this script yet, Thanks, I know how to change text, I'm just
testing and updating files and that would make no sense at this time. but
that's real good advice for 7.4 users. you should post that info in the 7.4
    tread as well.

The internal server error when making the first bid without an amount from
the Item page, and then making the correct bid from the bid page is still an
issue to look at. because that will come up a lot I'm sure.

Any auction I ever used had a minimum bid button that always automatically
submitted by click, the minimum bid allowed

    Regards
    EK

Here is a few more minor bugs
    done testing for today

    On Admin Homepage
    should display United States
    Default country United

when looking at a open auction
    52.00 USD bid displays as
    CURRENT BID 52.0000

after I delete a open auction
    admin home page shows
    Live Auctions -1

    and also displays

    On the public Auction homepage
    -1 AUCTIONS

Which auctions sites do this? You sure your not referring to buy it now pricing?

The user should always specify their maximum bid in a proxy system, which may very well be the minimum.

Hate to use them but E*ay shows:
    Your max bid:_______US $
    (Enter US $9.99 or more)

Rewording at owners discretion of course but bidding system is working as it should and error to rebid is correct when no bid is filled in.

By default reads "Place your Maximum Bid here" which seems sufficient to me.

I guess I could see changing the text on the below minimum error message to further clarify that a bid needs to be entered, couldn't hurt.

Change the decimal points in your SQL to 2 (from 4).

Bids Table - bid to double(16,2)

There are other money fields you may want to do the same thing with especially in the Auctions table.

    EDIT
: I was there anyway so here are the other fields you may want to edit (may have missed one somewhere else):
    Auctions table:
    minimum_bid
    shipping_cost
    reserve_price
    buy_now
    current_bid

I haven't done mine yet but probably the fees table as well.

Have you verified that this is a consistent server error and not just his setup?

With respect, I don't think the original intention of the button is to submit a minimum bid. Its simply meant to submit whatever bid you enter.

I also have to agree with Boxlot - I don't recall using a site that submits the minimum automatically. Its rather counterproductive in an auction site that does automatic proxy bidding.

Yeah, I don't think it referred to a server error but rather the system note of a user error that displays when no bid is entered or too low a bid is entered.

If it is truly an internal server error then it should be posted to see what's up.

    r.158

Submitting an auction just refreshes sell screen. No errors noted.

Verified Sell.php is default r.158 and double checked with default theme from r.158.

UPDATE: Ok, confirmed it is a change in r.157 or r.158. Replaced all changed files with r.156 and problem solved. Didn't see why in the code so I'll try and add one at a time to nail down though if your around I'm sure you'll see it fast.

UPDATE 2: /includes/datacheck.inc.php is the issue

Here's the problem, @line 245. Delete this and auctions submits:
    Code:
               if ($a_starts < time())
            {
                return '60';
            }

Its exactly as I stated in my last post, what is all the confusion about?
    with you two guys?

all you are doing is pushing a very important bug post back a page and adding
    nothing to it but confusion.

    Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, support@hostway.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

    To duplicate this

start a auction for 50.00 then logout, log in with another user and
on the item page just click on the bid button

Now you should be on the bid page looking at a "your bid is to low message"
Now enter anything more then 50.00 and you will get that
    Internal Server Error

I cannot explain things any clearer then that.

One things clear, you have not, because if you did you would know
its a real bug, aren't you a senior tester? you should be helping me test
not pushing very important posts to the rear of the tread.

I'm sorry you feel that way. We are just trying to confirm and define your issues. Its hard to fix an issue that cannot be confirmed. It seems to me your issues are getting a lot of attention. ;)

Your earlier post mentioned 2 problems. I was trying to point out that the issue with the submit button is not really a software bug.

I did test the problem you noted with 2 users trying to place bids after the first entered no value and logged out. You said it happens with all versions. I could not duplicate this with my production version of WeBid, which is why I was asking if its verified.

You mentioned production that must be the 7.4 version
This is a 0.8.0 related bug, and if you follow what
I post below you will get that

remember just create a auction make the item 50.00
or 70.00 etc then log out

log on as another user and visit the item page and
just click on the minimum bid button, do not enter anything

You should now be on the bid page, looking at a "your
    bid is to low message"

Now enter any amount over whats showing as the minimum bid
and you will get that error

Sorry if I got a little hot there for a moment, we are all
on the same team around here, I am just trying to help.

    PS
that 0.7.4 version your using has that minimum bid thing
I mentioned in a previous post you should at least reword
that, if its a production auction.

    Sorry if I sounded rude

Did test as you noted with two different auctions and two different opening bids.

I am unable to replicate, bids are placed without error.

ok ive reworded/ added new error messages so the bid screen makes more sense if you make an incorrect bid but i still cant duplicate the internal server error is there anything in your server logs that may be helpful to figure out why your getting this?

1.) Can anyone else confirm not being able to delete countries? More specifically, all of them except US.?

2.) Updating your timezone in the backend, the time on the homepage does not reflect that. Mine stays at 13:00 hours currently..no matter what DST I offset it too

3.) Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_BOOLEAN_AND, expecting ',' or ')' in C:\test\feedback.php on line 288

    4.)Fatal error: Call to a member function get_bread_crumbs() on a non-object in C:\test\rss.php on line 127

    +
I dont like how everyones default email delivery method is Text rather than HTML..

5.) Just some stuff that shouldn't happen :p[IMG]

sounds like theres still quite a few bugs that I'm gonna be hashing out...

    Renlok,

I noticed that you have replicated error messages in Rev. 159 file messages.inc.php. Not being that familiar with the structure of the program, is this ambiguity an issue?

    $ERR_071 = "Username is invalid can only contain letters and numbers";
    $ERR_071 = "You must enter a bid amount";

Good mourning, Guys this is real trust me, I have no access to server
logs I wish I did believe me, I also tested this on my sons server as
well days ago, this happens I just tested now again before I posted

    See results below

delete open auction hangs up the server and display -1 auctions
on admin home page stats and -1 on the Auction public Homepage
when I just deleted this last test auction it now displays -2

I see you re worded the item page but it should read
"bid to beat or something like that"

also the internal error still occurs

Here is how I just tested for that

I just created a new auction for 40.00 USD
I logged in as another user and from the item page
I bid 40.00 and recived "Your bid is below the minimum bid"
    on the bid page

Now I bid 40.00 and recieved internal server error
entering 41.00 instead does the same thing as well

    ------------------------------------

Here is how I just tested for that again in a diffent way

I just created another new auction for 40.00 USD
I logged in as another user and from the item page
I just clicked the bid button and recived "You must enter a bid amount "
    on the bid page

Now I bid 41.00 and recieved internal server error

    Regards

hmm...I'm not able to duplicate your bid issue/internal server issue. You're using the latest build right? IIS or apache? Is it publicly accessibile to test?

    What version are you on?

    1. Cannot replicate
    2. My time changes take but i've been there!....so have you.
3/4 What is the scenario that these occur?
    5. Cannot replicate

General comment: Everyone should get back in the habit of stating their Repository version since changes are occurring so frequently and may be fixed/broken in the next version.

In this case I'm commenting based on 158 but I see 161 is already out so I may not have addressed your stuff JB.

I guess I would be on 161 then per: http://simpleauction.svn.sourceforge.net/

I downloaded it a few hours ago..so it has to be. Although I'd like to see the revision in the software for the time being, but I doubt that'll happen.

    Thanks... ;)

Cool. Figured you were current and my not replicating clued me in that we might not be in sync.

Super tied up now but I found my last error by taking a look at changed files. Since I can't replicate in r.158 then something broke within r.159-r.161. Not like you don't know how to do it, just saying.

Haven't checked either to see if my latest error catch was integrated into new version but I hope to get a chance to update later and I'll check your stuff too though it's highly likely Renlok will beat me to it! ;)

    1. Granted I had to create one to test but had no problem deleting it.

    2. Can't replicate. Remember if your logged in that the user now has individual time adjustments, could that be it?
However, editing the users adjustment takes two tries before it takes. Just hitting save twice works.

3/4. Don't know how/where these occur, let me know.

+ I have no strong feeling but I do find that with the retail sites I'm involved with that more often then not people choose text over html when subscribing to newsletters.

    5. Can't replicate.
